NELF Staff Attorney Participates in Media Coverage of Massachusetts Maternity Leave Act Decision

Much public discussion has been occasioned by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court's August 9, 2010, decision, Global NAPS, Inc. v. Awiszus, in which the SJC majority agreed entirely with NELF'S interpretation of the limited scope of the Massachusetts Maternity Leave Act.  NELF Senior Staff Attorney Ben Robbins, the principal author of our amicus brief in the case, participated in the media coverage and helped clarify the meaning of the Court's holding.  The links below will take you to New England Cable News's evening news report on Monday, August 9, 2010, for which Ben was interviewed, and to the Emily Rooney WGBH-FM daytime radio show, during which Ben was able to offer extended commentary on the Court's ruling and the MMLA.

WHAT TO DO WITH ELECTRONIC DATA:
LATEST UPDATES ON BEST PRACTICES IN DATA MANAGEMENT AND E-DISCOVERY

About the topic:
Compliance with electronic discovery requests in litigation continues to be a source of
considerable legal risk for businesses, as the laws governing electronic data
management and discovery continue to evolve. NELF’s latest seminar on this topic
brings together a panel of experts to discuss recent state and federal court decisions
in New England that hopefully clarify the obligations of litigants and potential litigants
to preserve and produce electronic documents. Our panel will also address
how newer forms of electronic media (e.g., instant messaging and social network
sites) are impacted by the plethora of cases and rules governing electronic discovery
and speak about the availability of new technology to assist companies in complying
with electronic discovery obligations. The program is aimed at helping senior
business managers and their counsel better understand electronic discovery,
electronic data preservation, and strategies and technologies available to manage
electronic discovery compliance.
